The Feast of the Divine Hole Spirit concentrates a huge variety of symbolic elements that express ideological factors. This research aims to analyze the symbols that make up the Feast of the Divine Hole Spirit in Porto Nacional, Tocantins, held 40 days after Easter Sunday. It also seeks to present historical references and list the cultural and religious meanings present in the celebration, while contributing to research in cultural geography, highlighting the historical process of construction of the Feast of the Divine Hole Spirit and the symbology of its most emblematic objects of the cult, presenting a description of two main symbols used in the celebration of the feast: the bread, the meat, the wine, the dove, the tongues of fire, the crown, the scepter, the standard and the flag. These symbols play the role of holy images during the celebration of the festival. For the execution of the research, a bibliographical and documentary survey was carried out. |
