Resumo:
Home hospitalization is a form of health care, substitute or complementary to existing ones, characterized by a set of health promotion, disease prevention and treatment and rehabilitation actions provided at home, with guaranteed continuity of care and integrated into health care networks. The general aim of this research was to analyze the health status and training of the accompanying caregivers of home care patients in Primary Health Care (PHC) in the municipality of Gurupi-Tocantins. It is a quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study, with data collected between March and July 2023, covering 36 companions who are unable to travel to the Family Health Unit (USF) for care. A questionnaire was used to assess the sociodemographic profile, burden and training of caregivers. Once the data had been collected, an electronic spreadsheet was created to store the data using Microsoft Excel software and tables and graphs were used for descriptive representation using Microsoft Word software. The results showed that the majority are women (58.3%), black (86%), with a low level of education (91.6%), a monthly income of up to 2 minimum wages (88.3%), have some degree of kinship with the patient (86%), the most prevalent of which are children (47.2%), dedicate up to 24 hours a day to the patient (58.2%), have been dedicated to this role for more than 5 years (33.3%) and have no training to carry out this activity (100%). Most of these caregivers work full time (58.2%), which makes self-care and time to do other personal things difficult, making it an exhausting and stressful job and producing a profile of illness. This shows that it is necessary to improve a program to help caregivers with their activities. The results made it possible to advance in the understanding of the role of the caregiver for collective health and health practices related to companions of home care patients in Gurupi - TO.
