The species (Plagioscion squamosissimus) and mapara (Hypophthalmus marginatus) have ecological and economic importance in many fresh water brazilian regions. This study compared the morphological aspects of the digestive tract of P. squamosissimus e H. marginatus, knowing that both of them have distinct habits and foraging estrategies. The speciemns were colected between the months of August and October of 2022 in the county of Porto Nacional. Mouth, gill rakers, esophagus, stomach, intestine and pyloric caeca characteristics were observed. The mouth of the species have terminal position, the croaker has oral teeth and pointed pharyngeal, low numbered medim tracks, beeing pointed like the teeth, musculous short esophaghus, with cecal stomach relatively big with shape of J, and it's intestine is short. The mapara didn't present teeth, with long and thin gill rakers , a short and musculous esofagous, the stomach is siphon, in shape of small U, and it's intestine is long. The morpholofy of the digestive tract of P. squamosissimus has adaptatios to carnivorous/piscivorous feeding habits, and H. marginatus is adapted to planktophages habits. |
