The sustainable development aims to mitigate the possible negative effects that rapid and uncontrolled economic growth may cause the environment, so as to provide a development that meets the needs of the current generation without compromising future generations maintaining the balance in the economic, social and environmental. After many meetings and international agreements meetings held in the second half of the twentieth century, there was an evolution of the laws of various countries, including Brazil, according to guarantee the development of economic activities and society, without destroying the environment. The requirement for a sustainable public administration and the promotion of environmental education at all educational levels introduced himself as a key tool for the Brazilian State develop sustainable actions and encourage society to do the same. Higher education institutions in particular, for his character develop and disseminate knowledge, they are considered very important tools to practice sustainability in their own sites. In this sense, this research sought to identify the extent to which Federal University of Tocantins, public higher education institution, implements actions towards sustainability in their campus, as the prospect of its Management and Sustainable Logistics Plan, by collecting secondary and primary data from interviews with various levels of management servers. It was observed that the research institution developed sustainable logistics plan but not yet fully implemented, for related reasons since its form of institutionalization, occurred without disclosure, payment and without the figure of an authority to guide and supervise to the lack of awareness of the university community to run it. Like this, there is a need for review and adjustment of the plan, based on the problems identified, so that the research institution can really fulfill its role in relation to sustainability and encourage the whole society through their examples. |
