Resumo:
This experimental project, in the form of a video documentary, approaches in an observational way (Nichols, 2000) the issue of mining on the border between Brazil and French Guiana. By identifying the main reasons for the permanence of Brazilians and the existence of illegal mines on this border, despite the numerous actions of both the Brazilian and French authorities, we show how the dynamics around gold exploration in this region occurs. In order to understand this dilemma, the history of how the first focuses of gold mining on the border between Amapá (Brazil) and the French Overseas Department (France) arose, was surveyed. Through interviews, we show the point of view of researchers who study and work in the region, who are fundamental in explaining the impacts of the mines on the economic, social and environmental environment, and on the health of the miners themselves.
