Resumo:
The amazon has been experiencing an era of megaprojects and major infrastructure works, mainly in the energy sector. Such economic projects, however, do not Always act with the environmental responsibility that is expected of them. The hydroeletric dams in the Amazonian rivers have transformed the socio-environmental and socio-territorial dynamics of the region, directry and indirectry impacting the forest peoples. The proposed economic development for the region is led by the Federal and state governments and business associations. Because of their negative impacts on local populations and their authoritarian nature, they are strongly resisted by social movements. In this article we present the case of municipality of Ferreira Gomes. In the southeastern state of Amapá, where two hydroeletric plants are under construction, UHE Ferreira Gomes Hydroeletric Power Plant and UHE Cachoeira Caldeirão, whose works started in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In this article we analyze the social mobilizations engendered by the local population demanding that the business conglomerate responsible for the work and its effects, demanding repair to the damages resulting from the hydroeletric implementation process.
