The objective of this study was to make a sciometric survey on plumb defects in horses, in order to contribute to the scientific community, serving as a basis for future studies. The methodology used consisted in the search for indexed works in the Google Scholar platform. The research was conducted through the search for articles, which also considered abstracts and titles, using keywords with the following combinations, “equine bob”, “defects” and “conformation”, published during the period between January 2004 and December 2019. After organizing the list of published and selected papers, a screening was performed, from which the files were categorized by year of publication; theme of the article; number of authors; research country, region, types of defects most cited in the literature, race, journal and language of publication. It was noticed with this survey that there are few studies related to this theme, confirming the scarcity of works of this nature available in the Brazilian literature, being the South and Southeast the regions with the highest index of publications on the subject
