Water is extremely important for the survival of living beings and knowing its quality
is important for safe use in certain activities. The National Environmental Council
– CONAMA, pre-establishes values for parameters portrayed for each type of
water classification and its proper purpose, which reflect its quality. The present
work portrays the monitoring of salinity, pH, electrical conductivity, total dissolved
solids and temperature carried out in two lakes in the municipality of Juruti, western
Pará: Lake Jará and Piranha, in order to verify possible changes resulting from
anthropic actions or climate. The study began in June and ended in October. A
significant variation in the studied parameters was observed with the reduction in
the volume of water in the reservoirs. However, the results obtained for the
parameters salinity, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids and temperature
are within the limits established by CONAMA Resolution No. 357. On the other
hand, the pH of both lakes dropped significantly over the monitoring days and
reached acidity levels below those predicted by CONAMA. Thus, this anomalous
drought has affected the water quality of the two lakes studied. More studies should
be developed in order to evaluate the influence on fishing activities, irrigation of
vegetation and leisure activities. |
