This study aims to characterize the fishing activity in the around the Park of the State Park Monte Alegre, an integral protection conservation area located entirely within the limits of the Paituna Environmental Protection Area, a sustainable use conservation unit. Data were collected from January to November 2014 in six communities located around the Park. Interviews were conducted with the aid of semi-structured questionnaires, with fishermen indicated as experts and that were in activity for over 15 years. A total of 29 fishermen were interviewed, resulting in 259 interviews. All collected information were digitalized in relational databases in Acsses® platform and then analyzed with descriptive statistics. The analysis of data obtained in the interviews was performed by categorizing the content of the answers. The data were also worked on through an emic-etic approach with the preparation of compared cognition tables, where the traditional knowledge was compared with the current scientific literature. The fishermen of the area surrounding the park make two types of use of the fisheries resources: consumption and sale. The lakes are the most commonly used environments, and the fishiest are located outside the conservation unit. The fishermen use small boats such as hull and canoe with oar, a motorized canoe and boat with an outboard motor. Gillnets were the fishing tackle most used throughout the year. The fishing income has its peak in the lowering, when occurs the migration of “fat fish”. Were identified 35 ethno species of fish, corresponding to 35 biological species. The fishing activity is associated with other activities such as agriculture and livestock, particularly in the period of flood and closed season. The economy surrounding the park is focused on fishing, an important activity both for subsistence and for trade.. Na região Amazônica, a pesca é uma das atividades extrativistas mais tradicionais e importantes, tem um caráter artesanal e de subsistência. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo caracterizar a atividade pesqueira realizada por comunidades do entorno do Parque Estadual Monte Alegre, uma Unidade de Conservação de proteção integral, localizada em sua totalidade nos limites da APA Paituna, uma Unidade de Conservação de uso sustentável. Os dados foram coletados de janeiro a novembro de 2014, em seis comunidades localizadas no entorno do Parque. Fez-se uso de entrevistas, com auxílio de questionários semiestruturados, com os pescadores indicados como especialista em pesca e que estivesse na atividade a mais de 15 anos. Foram entrevistados 29 pescadores, resultando em um total de 259 entrevistas. Todas as informações coletadas foram digitalizadas em bancos de dados relacionais na plataforma Acess® e posteriormente analisadas com estatística descritiva. A forma de análise dos dados obtidos nas entrevistas foi à categorização do conteúdo das respostas. Os dados também foram trabalhados por meio de uma abordagem emicista/eticista, elaboração de tabelas de cognição comparada, em que os conhecimentos tradicionais são comparados com trechos da literatura cientifica corrente. Os pescadores do entorno do PEMA fazem dois tipos de uso dos recursos pesqueiros: consumo e venda. Os lagos são os ambientes mais utilizados, sendo que os mais piscosos estão localizado fora da Unidade de Conservação. Utilizam-se de embarcações de pequeno porte como o casco e canoa com remo, a canoa motorizada e o barco com motor de centro. A malhadeira foi o arreio mais utilizado e durante o ano todo. O rendimento pesqueiro tem o seu pico na vazante quando ocorre à migração do “peixe gordo”, foram identificadas 35 etnoespécies de peixes, que correspondem a 35 espécies biológicas. A atividade de pesca é associada a outras atividades como a agricultura e a pecuária, particularmente no período da cheia e do defeso.
