Specific parental standard, effective in a culture and identified as beneficial to other cultures, can be used to enable the learning of this pattern in other cultures and promote improvements in the life quality and children development (Keller, Voelker, Yovsi, Lohaus & Jensen, 2005). The aim of this study was to describe parenting practices of Brazilian and German mothers. The partnership between researchers from the Federal University of Pará - UFPA, in Brazil and the University of Osnabrück in Germany made possible collect the data for this study from Brazilian and German cities: Castanhal and Sao Paulo with Brazilian participants; Münster, with German participants; and many locations in Germany, consisting of Brazilian participants living in several German cities. The dimensions used were Responsibility Transference, Collaboration Sense, Care with other, Dominance, Compliment, Social Recognition, Empathy and the dimensions Love Taking out and Punishment. It was observed that the most significant differences were compared Brazilian in Germany (several places in Germany) with the other groups of participants. While the other samples (Castanhal, São Paulo and Münster) also have performed in concordant groups, they were not so consensual way Brazilian participants in Germany, as they had moderately high to high scores in five of the six dimensions analyzed. |
