This study aims at investigating the environmental education actions in Cuinarana Extractive Reserve, maily, considering these points: analyze the environmental education actions developed by the several actors in the RESEX area; inquiry the possible contributions of Environmental Education to the management of the Reserve; suggest guidelines for RESEX management. The conceptual frameworks guiding this study are: Environmental Management, Participatory Management in Conservation Units and Environmental Education, analyzing its socio-environmental aspects, based on the actions of public managers and the community neighboring the reserve. The research locus is Cuinarana Marine Extractive Reserve, based in Magalhães Barata County, in the northeast region of Pará State, Brazil. The method chosen for the development of this research is the case study, with a qualitative approach, it involves bibliographical and documentary review on the field. Upon the investigation, the results show that environmental education actions carried out by local actors have little relation to participatory management in UC, and that there is a lack of knowledge about the purposes and importance of RESEX, caused by the lack of information and disarticulation among the actors. |
