Resumo:
The research carried out in the downtown neighborhoods and outskirts of the city of Cametá highlights the importance of establishing relationships between urbanization studies and quality of life from the resident’s perception. It was aimed to analyze the perception of quality of life for urban residents in traditional Amazonian town. The theoretical framework adopted shows that city residents are continuously exposed to a series of characteristics of the urban space, which can produce feelings of satisfaction, aversion or indifference to the place. Based on the form applied to young men and women, adults and elderly it can be seen that the concept of quality of life shows differences in the levels of needs and aspirations. It is evidenced that the perception of residents from both downtown and outskirts neighborhoods have strong relationship with the satisfaction of needs, whether of material or immaterial nature. With the application of the form to the number of persons determined by the sampling plan and submitting the data to statistical treatment of factor analysis and a multivariate extension of ANOVA, called MANOVA, which enabled to compare opinions and find averages, the results showed that the residents from Cidade Nova and Jardim Primavera Neighborhoods are dissatisfied with the material conditions of the place and at São João Batista the residents expressed that they are partially satisfied
