The fire, due to its economic viability and the local cultural freight, is one of the factors associated with this suppression and it is used until the present day, to forests conversion into agricultural areas and maintenance of previously established cultures. However, research associate the practice of using fire to negative effects on environmental, social and economic issues. Aware of this alarming scenario, the study sought from crossing hotspots (Burning and Fire Monitoring Project, INPE); Land Use and Land Cover Data (TerraClass Project, INPE and EMBRAPA); interviews and hospital data from the Brazilian National Health System (SUS), to identify the dynamics of fire use in the city of Marabá-PA, as well as its damage in 3 different types of land use: "Settlements"; "Protected Areas” and "Other Modalities". The results show that the hotspots of the 3 modalities are associated mainly to established pastures. The modality "Other Modalities" had the highest occurrence of hotspots in the municipality and the modality "Conservation Units" showed no recurring hotspots. In modality "Settlements" was, especially in recurrent areas great relationship with forest clearing to opening new pasture areas. The analysis of hospital data suggested a relationship between the occurrence of hotspots and the occurrence of hospital attendances. CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior A ocupação desordenada da Amazônia, somado ao aumento populacional a partir do Plano de integração Nacional, juntamente com uma carência da difusão de novas técnicas e tecnologias de manejo economicamente acessíveis e de menor agressividade ao meio ambiente, resultaram em uma supressão florestal natural de aproximadamente 25% da área total da Amazônia. Um dos fatores associado a essa supressão, devido sua viabilidade econômica e carga a cultural local, o fogo, é utilizado, até os dias atuais, para a conversão de florestas em áreas agropecuárias e manutenção de culturas previamente estabelecidas. Porém, pesquisas creditam a pratica do uso do fogo a efeitos negativos em questões ambientais, sociais e econômicas. Ciente deste cenário alarmante, o presente trabalho buscou, a partir do cruzamento dos pontos de focos de calor (Projeto de Monitoramento de Queimadas e Incêndios, INPE); dados de uso e cobertura do solo (Projeto TerraClass, INPE e EMBRAPA); entrevistas e dados hospitalares do Sistema Único de Saúde, identificar a dinâmica do uso do fogo no município de Marabá-PA, assim como seus prejuízos em 3 diferentes modalidades: “Assentamentos”; “Unidades de Conservação”e “Demais Modalidades”, esta, caracterizado por medias e grandes propriedades rurais e manchas urbanas. Os resultados apontam que o os focos de calor para as 3 modalidades, estão associados, principalmente, a pastagens já estabelecidas. A modalidade “Demais Modalidades” apresentou a maior ocorrência de focos de calor no município e a modalidade “Unidades de Conservação” não apresentou focos de calor recorrente. Na modalidade “Assentamentos” houve, sobretudo em áreas de foco de calor recorrente, grande relação com remoção florestal para abertura de novas áreas de pastagem.
