The musical experience in the group Xamã brings, in the scope of artistic production, the practice of accompaniment and arrangement thought to express in the music, local, thematic and ethnic literatures. The academic training of the music teacher has the characteristic of emphasizing the European musical tradition and of making it an example in the construction of formal knowledge. This action as a cultural action has direct reverberation in the practices of music teachers in public schools throughout Brazil, establishing contradictions between the academic formation, the reality presented in schools, the curricular parameters of the discipline and the recent demands pointed by ethnomusicology for musical education . In this sense, the artistic practice that involves literature and music with an emphasis on the diversity of social groups also presents itself as a possibility of building musical knowledge, inside and outside the classroom, based on experiences of appreciation, contextualization and shared musical creation With the students. O trabalho como educadora musical em escolas públicas da rede estadual de ensino tem dentre seus inúmeros desafios o de diminuir as distâncias entre a formação curricular acadêmica do professor de música e a cultura musical trazida pelos alunos. A experiência musical no grupo Xamã traz, no âmbito da produção artística, a prática de acompanhamento e arranjo pensados para expressar, na música, literaturas locais, temáticas e étnicas. A formação acadêmica do professor de música tem a característica de ressaltar a tradição musical europeia e de torná-la exemplo na construção do conhecimento formal. Essa ação como ação cultural tem reverberação direta nas práticas de professores de música em escolas públicas no Brasil inteiro, estabelecendo contradições entre a formação acadêmica, a realidade apresentada nas escolas, os parâmetros curriculares da disciplina e as recentes demandas apontadas pela etnomusicologia para a educação musical. Nesse sentido a prática artística que envolve literatura e música com ênfase na diversidade de grupos sociais apresenta-se também como possibilidade de construção de conhecimento musical, dentro e fora de sala de aula, tendo como base as experiências de apreciação, contextualização e criação musical compartilhada com os alunos.
