The theoretical reference was built, mainly based on Ribeiro (2005), and other authors who are also references in the methodological field of the ABP, such as: Savin-Baden (2000), Berbel (1998), Malheiro (2005), Barrows 1996), Bruner (1987), Malheiro and Diniz (2008), among others. The methodology used in the development of this research was the qualitative approach of Gerhardt and Silveira (2009) of the oral research type, based on Connelly and Cladinin (1995). The subjects of the research were 03 chemistry teachers from a state public school in the municipality of Abaetetuba-PA. For the construction of the data, the proposal of teaching chemistry was given to the teachers, that is, the educational product built on the basis of the PBL, and the teachers were able to make their appreciation and analysis of the material by answering some questions present in an open questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed from the philosophical conceptions of Discursive Textual Analysis of Moraes and Galiazzi (2011). The results showed that, according to the teachers interviewed, the Educational Product, built from this dissertation, can contribute significantly to teaching-learning chemistry in high school, thus developing public school education in the municipality of Abaetetuba -PA. O presente trabalho intitulado “QUÍMICA NO ENSINO MÉDIO: aprendizagem baseada no problema do lixo eletrônico” objetiva compreender de que forma uma proposta de ensino pautada na metodologia da Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas (ABP), pode contribuir para o ensino de química no primeiro ano do ensino médio. O referencial teórico foi construído, principalmente com base em Ribeiro (2005), e outros autores que também são referências no campo metodológico da ABP, tais como: Savin-Baden (2000), Berbel (1998), Malheiro (2005), Barrows (1996), Bruner (1987), Malheiro e Diniz (2008), entre outros. A metodologia utilizada no desenvolvimento desta pesquisa foi a abordagem qualitativa de Gerhardt e Silveira (2009) do tipo pesquisa oral, fundamentada por Connelly e Cladinin (1995). Os sujeitos da pesquisa foram 03 professores de química de uma escola pública estadual do município de Abaetetuba-PA. Para a construção dos dados, foi entregue aos professores a proposta de ensino de química, isto é, o produto educacional construído com base na ABP e os docentes puderam fazer suas apreciações e análises sobre o material respondendo a algumas questões presentes em um questionário aberto. Os dados coletados foram analisados a partir das concepções filosóficas da Análise Textual Discursiva de Moraes e Galiazzi (2011). Os resultados apontaram que, segundo a visão dos professores entrevistados, o Produto Educacional, construído a partir desta dissertação, pode contribuir de forma significativa para o ensino-aprendizagem de química no ensino médio, desenvolvendo, assim, a educação escolar pública no município de Abaetetuba-PA.
