Daily, the social ills, reflected in the struggles and pains from a part of population, are exposed by communication companies, being that part of them keep supporting a business model from popular a sensationalists news. Because of it, this dissertation has as goals to understand which is the perceptions and constructions developed by Belém’s periphery dweller about the police journalism, considering that they are the ones who occupy with remarkable frequency the protagonism in the police news, both as victim and as violence existence. To the development of this search, the Guamá neighborhood was chosen as the periphery representative, taking into consideration it’s demographic density, crime rate and the recent violence cases shown by national and international communication companies, as the “chacina do Guamá”. The research is considered relevant and unprecedented when introduce the other side of police newspaper distributed in the Belém’s Metropolitan Region. In other words, disposes to give true voice to the periphery habitants opinions’ in relation to the news noticed in the police newspaper, as well as his perception of the periphery and individuals. The work has as communication companies of police nature reference’s, the narratives constructions of the two main police newspaper of RMB: Diário do Pará e Amazônia. In the theoretical construction, a historic review of police journalism and violence was fulfilled, as well as a reflection of the existing relations inside the urban space in what refers to the periphery. Thus, three important moments are demarcated in the writing of search’s methodological procedures, in what qualitative methods are applied in the analysis, that is: at first a reflection about the peripheral ambient; then, the analysis of the bibliographic search already known about police journalism in paraense’s newspapers, seeking to deepen knowledge about this journalistic doing; lastly, the exposure of the field research’s result developed with a group of Guamá neighborhood’s dweller – constituted by young dwellers and community leaderships –, through the method named “focus group”, in order to understand the perception of this population’s portion as for the policies narratives’ present in the newspaper. Thereby, discourse about the periphery and its complex relation with the newspaper’s police books shows necessary, from the critical view to the periphery stigmas, violence spectacularization, inconsequential exposure of its habitants and in the way in which the police editorial line interfere in his experiences inside the periphery and out of it. Do jornal impresso às mídias sociais, a presença do discurso da violência está intrínseca no cotidiano da população. Diariamente, as mazelas sociais, refletidas nas lutas e dores de parte da população, são expostas por veículos de comunicação, sendo que parte deles seguem sustentando um modelo de negócio a partir de notícias popularescas e sensacionalistas. Por isso, esta dissertação tem como objetivo compreender quais as percepções e construções desenvolvidas por moradores da periferia de Belém quanto ao jornalismo policial, considerando que são eles quem ocupam com notável frequência o protagonismo nas notícias policiais, tanto como vítimas quanto como geradores dessa violência. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, foi escolhido o bairro do Guamá como representativo dessa periferia, levando-se em consideração sua densidade demográfica, índices de crimes e os recentes casos de violência explorados nacional e internacionalmente pelos veículos de comunicação, a exemplo da “chacina do Guamá”. Considera-se a pesquisa relevante e inédita ao apresentar o outro lado do jornalismo policial impresso distribuído na Região Metropolitana de Belém. Em outras palavras, dispõe-se a dar verdadeira voz aos moradores da periferia quanto às suas opiniões em relação às notícias veiculadas nos cadernos policiais, bem como suas percepções da periferia e de seus indivíduos. O trabalho possui como referência de veículo com noticiário de cunho policial, a construção das narrativas de dois dos principais jornais policiais da RMB: Diário do Pará e Amazônia. Na construção teórica, foi realizada uma revisão histórica do jornalismo policial e da violência, bem como uma reflexão quanto as relações existentes dentro do espaço urbano no que remete à periferia. Sendo assim, três importantes momentos são demarcados na escritura dos procedimentos metodológicos da pesquisa, em que métodos qualitativos são aplicados nas análises, ou seja: primeiro uma reflexão em torno do ambiente periférico; em seguida, a análise da pesquisa bibliográfica já existente sobre o jornalismo policial de periódicos paraenses, buscando aprofundar o entendimento quanto à este fazer jornalístico; por fim, a exposição do resultado da pesquisa de campo desenvolvida com um grupo de moradores do bairro do Guamá – constituído por jovens moradores e lideranças comunitárias –, por meio do método chamado "grupo focal", a fim de entender a percepção dessa parcela da população quanto às narrativas policiais presentes nos jornais. Desse modo, dissertar sobre a periferia e sua complexa relação com o jornalismo impresso dos cadernos de polícia se mostra necessário, a partir do olhar crítico da periferia sobre estigmas, espetacularização da violência, exposição inconsequente de seus moradores e no modo no qual a linha editorial policial interfere nas suas vivências dentro da periferia e fora dela.
