About 30% of production time is wasted on transporting materials and products. The cause of this waste are problems in the disposition of stock and machines in production, that is, in the factory layout. In this context, the production line based on the cellular layout has been a powerful ally, since the cells of this layout are able to improve the use of available space, without increasing costs due to major renovations or constructions. To prove such improvements, through the implementation of the cell layout, the PSL method (Systematic Layout Planning) was used, which follows steps such as: data collection, analysis of the necessary and available space and factory limitations. With these stages of knowledge and analysis of the factory, it becomes possible to discard layouts that do not fit the characteristics of the company, whether related to financial resources, available space and factory culture. After choosing the cell layout, the statistical data was evaluated using the Chi Square test, with that, it became possible to validate that the production became more efficient with the use of the cell layout. The result found was that with the implementation of the cell layout, there was an increase in the number of wallets produced and a reduction in the waste of materials. It was concluded that the industrial layout is an efficient tool for improving the production process of school desks, because with the implementation of an adequate layout it broughtx numerous benefits to the factory under study, such as: increased productivity, greater organization and flexibility in the processes. Um dos problemas mais comuns encontrados no processo de fabricação, é o layout inadequado. Cerca de 30% do tempo destinado à produção é desperdiçado com transporte de materiais e produtos. A causa desse desperdício são problemas na disposição do estoque e das máquinas na produção, ou seja, no layout da fábrica. Neste contexto, a linha de produção baseada no layout celular tem sido uma poderosa aliada, pois, as células desse layout conseguem melhorar a utilização do espaço disponível, sem aumentar os custos por conta de grandes reformas ou construções. Para comprovar tais melhorias, através da implantação do layout celular, usou-se o método PSL (Planejamento Sistemático de Layout), o qual segue etapas como: coleta de dados, análise do espaço necessário e disponível e limitações da fábrica. Com essas etapas de conhecimento e análise da fábrica torna-se possível descartar layouts que não se enquadram nas características da empresa, sejam elas relacionadas aos recursos financeiros, espaço disponível e cultura da fábrica. Após a escolha do layout celular avaliou-se os dados estatísticos através do teste Qui Quadrado, com isso, tornou-se possível validar que a produção se tornou mais eficiente com o uso do layout celular. O resultado encontrado foi que com a implantação do layout celular, houve um aumento na quantidade de carteiras produzidas e redução no desperdício de materiais.
