The flow of historical processes of domination and oppression that still run through the open veins of Latin America, however, has never ceased to face insurgent collectivities that, in rural and urban contexts, (re)invent other identities and narratives, confronting mechanisms of subjugation and silencing, destabilizing state production in “non-law zones”, affirming subalternized identities and fighting for changes in power relations from the margins of the State, in the sense attributed by Veena Das and Deborah Poole Ao tomarmos como lócus de reflexão a América Latina, em sua multiplicidade de culturas, cosmologias, modos de existir e resistir, é inevitável incidir sobre a relação entre modernidade, Estado, violência e racismo, articulados a formas locais de poder em sociedades marcadas pela experiência colonizadora e pelo que Achille Mbembe considera como processos de efabulação, expressos pela falaciosa invenção de enunciados sobre a inferioridade desumana e selvagem de determinadas populações. O fluxo dos processos históricos de dominação e opressão que ainda correm pelas veias abertas da América Latina, no entanto, jamais deixou de enfrentar coletividades insurgentes que, em contextos rurais e urbanos, (re)inventam identidades e narrativas outras, afrontando  mecanismos de subjugação e silenciamentos, desestabilizando a produção estatal das “zonas de não-direito”, positivando identidades subalternizadas e lutando por mudanças nas relações de poder desde as margens do Estado, no sentido atribuído por Veena Das e Deborah Poole.
