There are different approaches that represent TQM in the field of economic sciences, such as those developed by John Richard Hicks, Irving Fisher, Cambridge School and John Maynard Keynes. This article intends to carry out an extensive analysis around the evolution of TQM from a perspective of historical-theoretical understanding, including presenting – in a critical form – the substance of the version of a new and original TQM equation on entirely different bases from the versions previous ones. A Teoria Quantitativa da Moeda (TQM) representa, em sua essência, a teoria empregada pelos economistas clássicos para demonstrar que a variação do nível geral de preços é determinada pela variação da quantidade de moeda, quando se analisa a economia como um todo. Existem distintas abordagens que representam a TQM no campo das ciências econômicas, como as que foram desenvolvidas por John Richard Hicks, Irving Fisher, Escola de Cambridge e John Maynard Keynes. O presente artigo pretende com isso realizar uma extensa análise em torno da evolução da TQM sob uma perspectiva de compreensão histórico-teórica, inclusive apresentando – em forma crítica – a substância da versão de uma nova e original equação da TQM em bases inteiramente diferentes das versões anteriores.
