The study is based on the installation of the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant in Altamira and the re-urbanization of the central areas, which, among other factors, culminated in the removal of thousands of families, changing the entire dynamic of their lives. Our main objective is to demonstrate that the process of planned removals of the residents of the baixões is constituted as socio-spatial segregation. In this way, we present elements that prove the idea raised. The methodology used was qualitative research where we sought, through semi-structured interviews with residents, to identify elements that prove socio-spatial segregation. The results of this study showed that the residents are dissatisfied with the change of their homes, mainly due to the mobility factor, and that the distance from the central areas caused other problems such as unemployment, increased poverty, violence, low quality of education, health problems, social isolation, loss of affective ties with neighbors and family, loss of identity with the river, among other social and psychological problems. Thus, this research proves the initial thesis. Esta pesquisa analisou o processo de remoção das comunidades carentes de Altamira que viviam nas áreas de várzeas dos igarapés Altamira, Ambé e Panelas, para os Reassentamentos Urbanos Coletivos (RUC) nas áreas periféricas. O estudo se dá a partir da instalação da hidrelétrica de Belo Monte em Altamira e a reurbanização das áreas centrais, que, entre outros fatores culminou no afastamento de milhares de famílias, mudando toda dinâmica de suas vidas. Nosso objetivo principal é demonstrar que o processo de remoções planejadas dos moradores dos baixões se constitui como segregação socioespacial. Desta forma, apresentaram-se elementos que comprovaram a ideia levantada. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa qualitativa onde se buscou, através das entrevistas semiestruturadas com moradores, identificar elementos que comprovem a segregação socioespacial. Os resultados deste estudo demonstraram que os moradores estão insatisfeitos com a mudança das suas moradias principalmente pelo fator mobilidade e que o distanciamento das áreas centrais acarretou outros problemas como desemprego, aumento da pobreza, violência, baixa qualidade de educação, agravamento na saúde, isolamento social, perda dos laços afetivos com vizinhos e familiares, perda da identidade com o rio entre outros agravantes de cunho social e psicológico.
