The main newspapers of the period, such as Estado do Pará, Província do Pará and Folha do Norte, started to bring portraits of people and the urban space that accompanied the articles, helping in the understanding and in the idea of credibility of the news transmitted. Many of these photos showed aspects of the city that were different from the way the capital of Pará was represented in the heyday of latex exports. Thus, the images published in the periodicals highlight other angles of the city. Therefore, the dissertation discusses how the representations of some urban aspects of Belém and its residents recorded through photographs, help us to understand the economic, political and social context in which these productions were published, during the so-called rubber crisis. A pesquisa tem como objetivo fazer uma análise de fotografias publicadas em jornais e outros impressos como álbuns e revistas que circulavam pela cidade de Belém-PA, nas primeiras décadas do século XX. Os principais jornais do período como Estado do Pará, Província do Pará e a Folha do Norte, passam a trazer retratos de pessoas e do espaço urbano que acompanhavam as matérias, ajudando na compreensão e na ideia de credibilidade das notícias veiculadas. Muitas dessas fotos traziam aspectos da cidade que eram diferentes da forma como a capital paraense era representada no período áureo das exportações de látex. Sendo assim, as imagens publicadas nos periódicos destacam outros ângulos da cidade.
