The titling of quilombola territories is a tool of fundamental importance for the realization of
rights of the communities that have historically struggled to remain in the lands they
traditionally occupy. The present work was developed to identify and analyze the actions of the
antagonists (farmers) in the face of the absence of the definitive property title of the quilombola
communities of the Municipality of Salvaterra, on Marajó Island in Pará state. Through
bibliographical research, document analysis, and interviews, it is possible to conclude that
despite the extensive legal framework that recognizes the territorial right of quilombola
communities, its effectiveness is hampered not only by the lengthy and bureaucratic
administrative process installed in Brazil but also by the actions of antagonists to the titling
process, who act by violating rights in the face of the fragility of communities that do not have
a document for their lands. |
