This research addresses the artistic interventions of the Movimento Artistas Pela Natureza
(MAPN), founded and led by Bené Fonteles, investigating its uniqueness in the Brazilian scene,
having as its starting point the theme of environmental artivism. The contributions of this
research include expanding the understanding of the Art History involving the Pará born artist
Bené Fonteles and the Movimento Artistas Pela Natureza in the scope of artivism in Brazil.
This research objectives focus on understanding the particular characteristics of MAPN's
artivism, exploring specific actions aimed at the conservation and distribution of water in
Brazil, such as Encontro das Águas I and II. Specific objectives include the definition of the
concepts and modes of operation of activist art, the examination of the context of the artist's
and MAPN's trajectory concerning the selected interventions, the collection of visual and
descriptive data from the interventions, and the textual and contextual analysis of them. To
achieve these objectives, this research adopts a hybrid methodology that combines the Cultural
History of Art with Visual Culture. This involves bibliographical review, contextual analysis,
documentary research in collections and newspaper libraries, as well as analysis of events from
a visual culture perspective. |
