This dissertation deals with popular culture in the neighborhood of Guamá in Belém of Pará, on the premise that some cultural expressions in the district strengthen the relationship between the identification of such “cultural producers” and the area of xperience. The production of boi bumbá will be as used parameter to make a panel of popular customs and traditional practices in the outskirts of Belém. The logic of organization, the relationship with other cultural experiences, such as carnival, religious festivals and the meanings assigned by their cultural producers are treated as points in the constitution of the cultural identity of the residents of the neighborhood of Guamá in the second half of the twentieth century. |
