Based on the understanding of the city and image, with reference aisthesis concept proposed by James Hillman in the city feel from the expanded notion of psychic reality, anthropological approach discussed by Hans Belting image that distinguishes image and medium, and in dialogue with other authors, we sought to understand what image of the city is developed by photographers research subjects, taking into account the discourses, experiences and photographs of urban environment, outlining a perception of the image of the city. This study was done by means of the assessment, selection and analysis of the work of these photographers that emerged from the 1980s in the artistic context in Belém. The methodological approach used was qualitative and inductive analysis, using the method bibliographic, documentary and semi-structured interviews to survey and knowledge of photographic production of these authors, their discourses and experiences in Belém related to urban themes. Esta pesquisa desenvolveu o estudo da imagem da cidade produzida por dois fotógrafos contemporâneos que atuam na Grande Belém e em outras cidades, os quais são: Mariano Klautau Filho e Paula Sampaio. Partindo do entendimento de cidade e de imagem, tendo como referência o conceito de aisthesis proposto por James Hillman no sentir a cidade a partir da noção ampliada de realidade psíquica, a abordagem antropológica de imagem discutida por Hans Belting que distingue imagem e meio, e em diálogo com outros autores, buscou-se compreender que imagem da cidade é elaborada pelos fotógrafos sujeitos da pesquisa, levando em consideração os discursos, as experiências e as fotografias que eles constroem do ambiente urbano, delineando uma proposta de percepção da imagem da cidade. Este estudo foi feito por meio do levantamento, seleção e análise de parte da obra desses fotógrafos que emergiram a partir da década de 1980 no contexto artístico em Belém.
