Resumo:
Piprites chloris (Temminck) occurs in two disjointed areas in Brazil, in the forests of the southeast of Espírito Santo to Paraná, in Paraguay and northeast of Argentina (Missiones). And in the region of the Amazon hiléia. In the latter, Hellmayr (1929 b) recognizes to be inhabited by three geographic races. In the northwest of the Brazilian Amazon is the domain of the form P. c. Tschudii (Cabanis). On the south bank of the upper Amazon (Madeira River and west of Mato Grosso) lives P. c. Bolivianus Chapman. In Guianas, northern Brazil from Manaus to Amapá and Tapajós-Xingu mesopotamia occurs P. c. Chlorion (Cabanis). In the eastern state of Pará and northern Maranhão, populations differ from all known P. chloris breeds and may be referred to as Peprites Chloris Grisescens New subspecies.
