Coleoptera larvae and Diptera larvae are generally used as indicators of biodiversity, since they have great morphological, taxonomic, behavioral and ecological variability and are sensitive to environmental changes (Niemelä & Kotze 2000). Changes in temperature and humidity may interfere with the dynamics of populations of Coleoptera and Diptera larvae, causing a decrease in population density. The knowledge of the populations of these larvae and their ecological importance is important to understand the dynamics of ecosystems and their maintenance. Hexapoda larvae, emphasizing Coleoptera and Diptera, are the object of study of this sub-project, which aims to collaborate with the research project "Effect of water exclusion on the composition and abundance of the soil fauna of a dense terra firme forest", regarding the knowledge of the identification and determination of the representativeness of these larvae during the previous periods and subsequent to the installation of the said experiment. |
