This discusses emphasized the relevance of the contributions of the first components of the Amazonian society for the society of today. It now comes to compose the scene of this thematic volume of the Bulletin of the Goeldi Museum, the presented data are fruits of previous works of field of the author at different moments and places of the region, and associates to the bibliographical research and the personal experience of the author in diverse ‘fishing places’ of the coast, Amazon medium, Amazonian estuary and island of the Marajo. This set served of base and of instruments for these propositive reflections for new research mutidisciplinares in view of filling gaps on the history of fishes in the Amazonia. Thus it is considered to evoke the pluriétnicas origins of the society and culture that if had formed in the Amazonia aiming at bigger clarity on the relations between the first contingents components of the Amazonian society the social segments contemporaries. With this if it imagines to bring to the reflection the value of the partner-cultural and ambient contributions of those different social populations, and to call attention for the partner-cultural legacy left by the aboriginal ancestry that involving the occupation human being in the region. O presente texto é versão de uma conferência proferida no Departamento de Genética da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), no marco do tema Populações amazônicas ontem, hoje e perspectivas para o futuro. Essa conferência enfatizava a relevância das contribuições dos primeiros formadores da sociedade amazônica para a sociedade de hoje e vem agora compor o cenário deste volume temático do Boletim do Museu Goeldi. Os dados apresentados são frutos de trabalhos de campo anteriores da autora em diferentes momentos e lugares da região e associados à pesquisa bibliográfica e à experiência pessoal da autora em diversos ‘lugares de pescadores’ do litoral, médio Amazonas, estuário amazônico e ilha do Marajó. Este conjunto serviu de base e instrumento para estas reflexões propositivas para novas pesquisas mutidisciplinares, tendo em vista preencher lacunas sobre a história da pesca na Amazônia. Assim, propõese a evocar as origens pluriétnicas da sociedade e cultura que se formaram na Amazônia visando à maior clareza sobre as relações entre os primeiros contingentes formadores da sociedade amazônica e os segmentos sociais contemporâneos.
