This paper presents results from a research that aim to clarify doubts regarding the
documentation of 206 objects of the Aparai indigenous people, collected and deposited at
Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) by Curt Nimuendajú and Otto Schulz-Kampfhenkel.
The theoretical foundation is based on the concepts of document and information and the
premises of renowned authors of the fields of Museology, Information Science, History, among
others. The methodology used included documentary research with historical bias to compare
the trajectories of the two Germans in the Amazon and to verify if the two researchers
participated together in expeditions along the Jari and Paru rivers, and jointly deposited or not
ethnographical objects in MPEG. The results indicate that these Aparai objects were deposited
in the Museum in 1915 by Curt Nimuendajú and between 1935-1937 by Otto Schulz-
Kampfhenkel. |
