The scientific identification of fruits and seeds is necessary due to the importance of their morphological structures in botanical recognition, since their characters are decisive points for the characterization of some taxa. The objective of this study, besides identifying fruits and seeds of the leguminosae family that occur in the Mocambo Reserve through a systematic study of their main characteristics, is also to elaborate a list of the main species found in the study area. For this research, so far, 4 species of the subfamily Caesalpinioidea have been selected: Hymenae oblongifolia Hurb., Dialium guianense (Aubl.), Sandw., Batesia floribunda Spr ex Benth., Tachigalia myrmecophila Ducke., occurring in the reserve. The fruits and seeds of these selected species were analyzed and classified according to their most striking characteristics. The results will be used to prepare an analytical key for the identification of the species.
