Resumo:
The Zoobotanical Park of the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Para is located in the urban center of the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, covering an area of approximately 5.2 ha. Besides its inestimable environmental value, the Zoobotanical Park is one of the most important leisure areas for the population of Belém, as well as one of the city's most traditional tourist attractions. The work is about soil fertility in the Zoobotanic Park. To conduct this work the area was delimited into four sub-areas designated as Quadrants (QI, QII, QIII, QIV). Twenty-seven soil samples were collected according to the number of beds existing in each quadrant: the samples were taken at a depth of 0-40 cm, treated and chemically analyzed by determining the levels of phosphorus (P), carbon (C), aluminum (Al) and exchangeable bases (Na, Ca, Mg and K). It was found that there is phosphorus deficiency in the four quadrants studied, and in the QI and QII quadrants there is also potassium deficiency. The calcium plus magnesium (Ca+Mg) contents vary from medium (QI and QII) to high (QIII and QIV). The levels of organic matter and carbon determined were generally low, and the same was true for exchangeable aluminum (AI). The pH ranged from strongly acidic (QI) to slightly acidic (QIII). The fertility class of the soils in the quadrants studied ranged from low (QI and QII) to medium (QIII). Under the conditions in which the study was conducted, we found that there is no variation in soil class within the Zoobotanical Park. The study showed that there is a difference in the fertility class between the quadrants, QIII being the most fertile.
