In vivo observations of witches' broom behavior in cupuaçu were made in adult plantations, evaluating: a) number of brooms emitted; b) broom length; c) green broom period; d) dry broom period; e) pre-fruiting period; and 1) basidiocarp production. The highest and lowest number of brooms emitted were observed in August (26.5%) and April and October (2.04%), respectively. The average length of green brooms was between 15.4 and 61 cm. The average green period ranged from seven to ten weeks and drying took place from three to thirteen days on average. Basidiocarp production started at 229 days after broom drying, on average, and was highest in July. |
