Resumo:
The study is part of the project Leguminosae from the Brazilian Amazon, having as main objective the training with the species of the genus Martiodendron, highlighting its main morphological characteristics, geographic distribution, economic and ecological importance. This genus is represented in the Amazon by three species, as M. excelsum (Benth) Gleason, the others are: M. parviflorum (Amsh); M. elatum (Ducke) Gleason and two varieties found in the species M. elatum (Ducke) Gleason, variety elatum and variety occidentale (Ducke) Koeppen. A distribution key of the species highlighting besides the taxonomic treatment other information that is included, such as pollen morphology, where the genus under study is stenopaline; medium pollen grains, 3-colporate, prolate, spheroidal, triangular ambulate with the exception of M. elatum (Ducke) Gleason varo occidentale and M. parviflorum (Amsh) Koeppen.
