The forest under study is located on the Maiandeua Island, Maracanã Municipality, Pará State, at 47°31'05" to 47°34'12 "WGr. and 00°34'45" to 00°34'30 "S., bordered by a beach in front of it and a grassland formation in the back. This study aimed to determine the floristic and phytosociological composition of the Myrtaceae forest community, contributing to the knowledge of the coastal vegetation of the State of Pará. The methodology used was line intercept (MULLER-DOMBOIS & ELLENBERG, 1984). A total of 180 individuals were inventoried, distributed in 18 families and 37 species, being the most important according to the Importance Value Index (IVI): Myrtaceae (91.32%), Rubiaceae (27.78%) and Burseraceae (27.6%). The most representative species according to IVI were: Protium heptaphyllum (Aubl.)March., Myrcia fallax (Richard)DC, Coccoloba ramosisissima Wedd, Clusia columnaris Engl, Myrcia multiflora (Lam.) DC. and Pagamea guianensis Aubl. The species with the highest relative density and frequency was Myrcia fallax (Richard) De. and the one with the highest relative cover was Protium heptaphyllum (Aubl.) March.
