The Estação Experimental do Mocambo is a natural reserve on the outskirts of Belém, Pará, Brazil, which has been used for the development of research, aiming to understand the ecosystem of this region, for a better management of its natural resources. Its flora has been widely studied, but little is known about the possible interactions between the soil and the development of vegetation. In order to contribute to this study, and considering the importance of soil for plant growth, all individuals with a minimum DBH of 10cm were inventoried and samples of soil profiles were collected in open trenches 1.50m deep, in 09 plots of 10 X 10 (100m2). These were distributed along three transects each, all under the influence of a Yellow Latosol, clayey-sandy texture. The dendrometric characteristics were analyzed from the following variables: average height (h), hypsometric ratio (h/d), basal area (G), density (D) and volume (V). The partial results showed greater exuberance in the vegetation in plots 06, 07 and 08, while in plots 01,02 and 05 there is less exuberance, all, however, under the influence of a soil texture (CNPq, Fundação O Boticário de Proteção à Natureza).
