The Basidiomycetes are fungi, mostly cellulolytic and lignolytic, constituting the largest group of organisms responsible for the decomposition of organic matter, contributing and participating in this way in the recycling process of the mangrove ecosystem. The municipality of Bragança is located in northeastern Pará and its pioneer vegetation is represented by mangroves, fields and restingas. The present work is a contribution to the knowledge of mangrove mycota. A survey of macroscopic fungi is being carried out in this region, in degraded and non-degraded mangrove areas, following the methodology of Fidalgo and Bononi (1984). In two collections made in April and December 1995, 84 specimens were collected. So far, 19 genera and 16 species have been identified, namely: Antrodia sinuosa (Fr.) Karst.,Auricularía polytricha (Mont.) Sacc., Caripia montagnei (Berk.) O. K., Coriolopsis rigida (Berk & Mont.) Murr., Daedalea sp, Ganoderma aplanatum (Pers.) Pat, Gloeophyllum striatum (Sw.:Fr.) Murr., Lentinus crinitus (L. ex. Fr.) Fr., Nigroporus vinosus (Berk.) Murr., Pistillaria termissiva (Curt.) Com, Phellinus sp., P. gilvus (Schw.) Pat., Pycnoporus sanguineus (L.:Fr.) Murr., Schizophyllum comune Fr. ex Fr., Stereum sp, Trametes elegans (Spreng.:Fr.) Fr, Trichaptum tricnomallum (Berk. & Mont.) Murr., Tyromyces chioneus (Fr.) Karst. and Xilaria sp. The latter belongs to the Ascomycetes and the rest to the Basidiomycetes. The taxa are distributed in 09 families. Of these, Polyporaceae has the largest number of representatives. Tyromyces chioneus was found in all collections and is resistant to tidal influence. This is the first record of fungi occurring in mangroves in Pará. The collected material is incorporated into the Herbarium João Murça Pires of the Emílio Goeldi Museum of Pará, Department of Botany and with duplicates in the Mycology Section of the Federal University of Pará.
