This research is part of a larger one, in which I am involved, on "Family and Productive Units in the Amazon". According to this research, the intinerance between rural and urban areas is within the context of the Amazon region, due among other reasons to the aspiration for social ascension, by means of the search for urban equipment such as education, hospital, entertainment, and especially employment, without which the permanence or not in the city may be compromised. Thus, through the "in loco" research it can be observed that the Bengui neighborhood is characterized by notable spatial mobility and along with this a high poverty index. A considerable number of families headed by women were also detected in which, according to Neves (1988) and Odila (1984), authors who address this theme, financial instability does not allow them to have a stable family condition. The instability of men's work and consequently the frequency of this intinerancy may be a peculiar characteristic of a region that has unparalleled development. Moreover, one must consider the reformulation of values and roles that the family is going through, both internally, in the private sphere, and externally, in the public sphere, with the conception of several family types and not only the traditional one. |
