During the review of the reptile collections of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), the snake fauna of these islands was analyzed and reidentified using the updated literature. All specimens analyzed were separated by sex, observing traditional systematic meristic and morphometric data. Eight more species were found to occur in the local fauna (Boidae: Corallus h. hortulanus. Colubridae: Atractus sp., Drepanoides anomalus, Helicops angulatus, Pseudoboa coronata, Thaeniophallus occipitalis, Thamnodynastes pallidus and T. strigilis). Three species had their occurrences confirmed: one Colubridae, Chironius flavolineatus, and two Elapidae, Micrurus filiformis and M. s. surinamensis. Two topotypes ofPsomophis joberti (Colubridae) have also been identified. To date, 52 snake species have been recorded for the local herpetofauna, distributed in five families: Typhlopidae (1.9%), Boidae (13.5% ),Elapidae (3.8%), Viperidae (7.7%), and Colubridae (73.1%). Até 1991 foram registradas 38 espécies de serpentes para as ilhas de Marajó e Mexiana, estado do Pará, Brasil. Durante a revisão das coleções de répteis do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), a fauna de serpentes dessas ilhas foi analisada e reidentificada utilizando-se a literatura atualizada. Todos os espécimes analisados foram separados por sexo, observando-se dados sistemáticos merísticos e morfométricos tradicionais. Constatou-se a ocorrência de mais oito espécies para a fauna local (Boidae: Corallus h. hortulanus. Colubridae: Atractus sp., Drepanoides anomalus, Helicops angulatus, Pseudoboa coronata, Thaeniophallus occipitalis, Thamnodynastes pallidus e T. strigilis). Três espécies tiveram suas ocorrências confirmadas: uma Colubridae, Chironius flavolineatus, e duas Elapidae, Micrurus filiformis e M. s. surinamensis. Também identificaram-se dois topótipos dePsomophis joberti (Colubridae).
