In recent years, several works in Historical Archeology have been carried out by the team of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Our study is based on the excavations carried out at the site PA-BB-06:Praça do Carmo in 1993, 1994 and 1996, located in Cidade Velha, Belém-PA, which dates back to the period between the 17th and 20th centuries. In this work we aimed to develop the analysis of the archaeological ceramic material from the excavations carried out at the site. The systematic work consisted in the analysis of the artifacts that were classified according to the new methodologies proposed by Historical Archeology. The data resulting from this analysis were registered in electronic sheets (EXCEL97 program). This methodological procedure aims to facilitate the manipulation of the data and the consequent obtaining of results. The porcelain fragments were classified according to the type of paste into: Fine Earthenware (470 fragments); Earthenware (66 fragments); Stoneware (26 fragments) and Porcelain (43 fragments). As for decoration, significant types were detected, and in the Fine Earthenware 10 decorative patterns were found called: monochromatic linear, bichromatic and polychromatic, the created with incisions and painted, the sponged geometric and floral, the monochromatic blue floral and polychromatic and printed ware; in the Earthenware the pattern found was from the mercedarian missionaries. Besides the earthenware fragments, artifacts from the church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Homens Brancos were found, classified as construction material, and 486 specimens were catalogued, including tiles, mortar, plaster with and without decoration, and others. With this it became evident that the pieces found date back to various periods of history concerning the space of the square, from the construction and demolition of the church (17th to 20th centuries), to the intensification of the consumption of more sophisticated materials, in the 19th century, such as Faience Fina.
