The research aims to produce an accurate diagnosis of the fishing effort through the analysis of the interaction between biotic, abiotic and anthropic factors, given the report in the press about the discussion between netters and sheep raisers. It said that the croas would be produced by the implantation of the corrals. The subproject will contribute to give more precision to the map of social use of natural resources already made by the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. During seasonal field visits, leaders were interviewed and questionnaires were applied, and the data is being tabulated in a database. The location of the corrals was made with the help of a GPS. We registered the presence of several actors that practice fishing, among them, netters, corrals, crabbers, and others. For the former, the capture is more intense during the golden bream harvest. With the profit made during this period, they can invest in other economic activities, such as farming, or sustain a less important fishing effort. The others tend to practice their fishing gear all year round, as they do not have enough financial income to stop fishing or cannot afford alternative employment. A negative evolution of fish stocks has been observed in the last decades due to two factors: a) the increase in fishing effort, b) predatory fishing. The lack of enforcement by environmental agencies contributes to this practice. The deficiency of the social organization is manifested by the colony's lack of orientation of the fishermen about the management of natural resources. Besides this, the colony does not satisfactorily provide for the fishermen's rights, thus hindering their working conditions and even their living conditions. Among the fishermen themselves, many have a share of responsibility for not being up to date with the colony or for not participating much in the existing associations. As localidades de Marapanim e Marudá, situadas na micro-região do Salgado - nordeste paraense - apresentam como importante atividade econômica a pesca artesanal. A pesquisa visa produzir um diagnóstico preciso do esforço de pesca através da análise da interação entre fatores bióticos e abióticos e antrópicos, haja vista o relato da imprensa sobre a discussão entre redeiros e curralistas. Dizia que as croas seriam produzidas pela implantação dos currais. O subprojeto contribuirá a dar maior precisão ao mapa de uso social dos recursos naturais já realizado pelo Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Em visitas sazonais a campo, foram feitas entrevistas de lideranças e aplicações de questionários cujos dados estão sendo tabelados num banco de dados. A localização dos currais foi feita com ajuda de GPS. Registrou-se a presença de diversos atores que praticam a pesca, entre eles redeiros, curralistas, caranguejeiros e outros. Para os primeiros, a captura é mais intensa durante a safra da dourada. Com o lucro obtido nesse período, eles podem investir em outras atividades econômicas, como a lavoura, ou sustentar um esforço de pesca menos importante. Os demais tendem a praticar suas artes de pesca o ano todo, pois não dispõem de renda financeira suficiente para deixar de pescar ou não podem exercer alternativas de emprego. Observou-se uma evolução negativa das reservas ictiológicas nas últimas décadas devido a dois fatores: a) o aumento do esforço de pesca, b) a pesca predatória. A falta de fiscalização de órgãos ambientais contribui para essa prática. A deficiência da organização social se manifesta pela não orientação dos pescadores sobre manejo dos recursos naturais por parte da colônia. Além disso, a colônia não supre de maneira satisfatória os direitos dos pescadores, dificultando assim suas condições de trabalho, e até de vida.
