The Arecaceae family is the most common among the Monocotiledonea, with 300 genera and 3500 species. The target of our research are species of the genus Oenocarpus Mart. that compose the "Paulo Cavalcante" - MPEG and IAN - Embrapa / CPATU, we studied the morphometry of the fruits of Oenocarpus Mart. existing in the seedpods and fruits that will be collected to incorporate the MPEG's seedpods. Photographs were taken and the fruits of the palms that compose the fruit library were surveyed. In MPEG there are 318 specimens, 43 genera with 89 different species, and in the genus Oenocarpus Mart. there are five species where measurements of the fruits were taken: Oenocarpus bacaba Mart. 1.8cm compro and 1.5cm diameter; Oenocarpus bataua Mart 3cm compro and 2.7cm diameter; Oenocarpus dlstlchus Mart. 2cm compro and 1.3cm diameter; Oenocarpus minar Mart. 1.7cm compro and 1.3cm diameter and Oenacarpus multicaules Mart. 1.7cm compro and 1.3cm diameter. In the Embrapa fruit library there were 26 species and 11 genera with 16 distinct species. Oenacarpus Mart. was found with only one fruit (Oenocarpus bacaba Mart.). In general, Oenocarpus Mart. has infructescence in bunches and each fruit is a drupe. One of the species consumed by the population is Oenocarpus bacaba Mart., which reaches a height of 22 meters, and according to some authors, the infructescence is also in bunches with drupaceous, dark fruit, from which is removed from the mesocarp a wine rich in lipids and pleasant taste.
