The Sakurabiat language is one of the languages threatened with extinction, and has 25 speakers. The project of editing and publishing the book "Mythological Narratives of the Sakurabiat Indigenous People" aims primarily at documenting and disseminating the knowledge and traditional beliefs of the Sakurabiat expressed through myths, so that not only the group will benefit from the documentation of their language and culture, but also society in general, since it allows to know a little more about the Brazilian indigenous languages. The narratives were documented by initially recording, transcribing, and translating them, and then digitizing and editing them. A total of 25 narratives were collected, which are currently in the editing and revision phase, in which they are prepared for publication. It is known that the language spoken by a people is one of the most significant expressions of their culture and, consequently, of their identity. Besides being the form of daily communication, it is the means by which traditional knowledge is transmitted, passed on from generation to generation. Thus, it is concluded that this project is extremely relevant in the documentation and revitalization of the language and, consequently, of the Sakurabiat culture. Dentre as, aproximadamente, 160 línguas indígenas existentes, atualmente, no território brasileiro, está a língua Mekens ou Sakurabiat, falada pelo povo indígena Sakurabiat localizado no estado de Rondônia. A língua Sakurabiat é uma das línguas ameaçadas de desaparecimento, e conta com 25 falantes. O projeto de edição e publicação do livro "Narrativas Mitológicas do Povo Indígena Sakurabiat" visa principalmente à documentação e à difusão dos conhecimentos e crenças tradicionais dos Sakurabiat expressos através dos mitos, a fim de que, não só o grupo seja beneficiado com a documentação de sua língua e cultura, mas também a sociedade em geral, visto que permite conhecer um pouco mais sobre as línguas indígenas brasileiras. As narrativas foram documentadas a partir da gravação, transcrição e tradução, inicialmente, depois se passou ao processo de digitalização e edição das mesmas. Foi coletado um total de 25 narrativas, as quais estão, atualmente, em fase de edição e revisão, em que são preparadas para a posterior publicação. Sabe-se que a língua falada por um povo constitui-se em uma das expressões mais significativas da cultura e, consequentemente, da identidade do mesmo.
