Platonia insignis Mart (bacuri), from the Clusiaceae family, is a common species of plant in areas of secondary succession (capoeira) in the Bragantina region, and it propagates easily by sprouting roots. It has important economic value due to the several products it can offer. With the objective of developing techniques to increase the fruit production of P insignis Mart, in the municipality of Bragança, Pará, silvicultural treatments (IT) were applied in two capoeiras of distinct ages; Area 1 (25 years) and area 2 (45 years), In the same areas were reserved plots without intervention, called witnesses (TO), with the selection of individuals that presented DBH (diameter at breast height) of 10 in, In the IT plots were removed the trees that were competing for light, cut the vines that interfered with the development of the selected individuals and was removed the vegetation that was within 2, 5 m and 2 m from the tree under test (area 1 and area 2, respectively) in order to reduce competition for nutrients, The elimination was done by cutting the individual or ringing it, depending on size, Were benefited in area 1, 142 individuals of bacuri divided into 68 in the TO plot and 74 in IT. In the last plot 238 competing individuals were eliminated, represented in 36 species and 16 botanical families, It was observed that 57.1% of the trees eliminated were Platonia insignis Mart, followed by Croton matourensis Aubl with 9.7%, In the oldest area 209 individuals of the studied species were selected, of these, 118 are in the control plot and 91 were benefited in the treated plot with the removal of 163 individuals, It was noted a greater balance of species eliminated with 18.4% of P insignis Mart, 16% of Neea sp, 6.7% of Tapirira guianensis Aubl and 6.1% of Maprounea guianensis Aubl as the most representative, Due to the recent application of treatments, it is expected to monitor the areas after one year of silvicultural intervention to begin analyzing the effect of treatments.
