The present project investigates methods and forms of scientific illustration in archaeology, especially illustrations of ceramic and lithic artifacts, in search of patterns and regularities that are important in the search for objectivity in the display of graphic data. We have reproduced ceramic artifacts from sites located on Marajó Island, experimenting with various reproduction techniques. The research, still in progress, has developed a series of protocols and suggestions for scientific illustration, with the aim of producing a manual that will serve as a guide for archeologists and illustrators. A ilustração arqueológica é parte importante de publicações científicas, colocando-se dentro da categoria de dados de pesquisa cuja objetividade torna-se fundamental para uma avaliação independente da propriedade ou validade dos resultados alcançados com o trabalho. O presente projeto investiga métodos e formas de ilustração científica em arqueologia, especialmente as ilustrações de artefatos cerâmicos e líticos, 103 em busca de padrões e regularidades que sejam importantes na busca de urna objetividade na exposição de dados gráficos. Foram reproduzidos artefatos de cerâmica provenientes de sítios localizados na Ilha de Marajó, experimentando-se diversas técnicas de reprodução.
