The genus Cyprideis is widely distributed in these deposits where it is very abundant and diverse, whose identified species are endemic and extinct. This genus has great morphological diversity presenting two evolutionary lineages, one smooth and the other ornamented (Whatley et al, 1998).The present study comprises the identification of Cyprideis species and the paleoenvironmental interpretation of the sedimentary deposits of the Solimões Fm in Aquidabã and Morada Nova, Eirunepé, AM, Brazil. This is the first record of ostracods in these localities, extending the area of occurrence of this unit and its associated ostracodauna and helping to refine the paleoenvironmental and biostratigraphic interpretations. The samples were collected from outcrops exposed on the banks of the Juruá River, at Aquidabã and Morada Nova, southwest of Amazonas State; 1kg of each sample (6 from Aquidabã and 7 from Morada Nova) was processed (grinded, sieved and dried at 50°C) using 30g of sieves 0.42, 0.060 and 0.080 mm for sorting; the specimens were separated by species and later photographed under a Scanning Electron Microscope. The type material was separated for cataloging and deposited in the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi's microfossil collection. Six genera and 16 species were identified, 11 of them already recorded in other localities further north of the studied area. Among the Cyprideis species, the following were identified Cyprideis pebasae, C. graciosa, C. longispina, C. lacrimata, C. machadoi and C. olivencai; other 3 species of Cyprideis were identified although kept in open nomenclature. The species Cyprideis pebasae showed great morphological variety where 3 varieties were identified. The association of the ostracod species found allowed us to characterize the deposits as fluvial lacustrine and Middle Miocene. A Formação Solimões compreende depósitos terciários que se estendem por milhares de quilômetros quadrados pela Amazônia Ocidental, onde o estudo de ostracodes iniciou-se com o trabalho pioneiro de Purper (1977). O gênero Cyprideis é amplamente distribuído nestes depósitos onde é muito abundante e diverso, cujas espécies identificadas são endêmicas e extintas. Este gênero tem grande diversidade morfológica apresentando duas linhagens evolutivas, uma de carapaça lisa e outra ornamentada (Whatley et al, 1998).0 presente estudo compreende a identificação das espécies de Cyprideis e a interpretação paleoambiental dos depósitos sedimentares da Fm Solimões em Aquidabã e Morada Nova, Eirunepé, AM, Brasil. Este é o primeiro registro de ostracodes nas localidades estudadas estendendo assim a área de ocorrência da unidade e de sua ostracofauna associada além de auxiliar no refinamento das interpretações paleoambientais e bioestratigráficas. As amostras foram coletadas em afloramentos expostos as margens do rio Juruá, nas localidades de Aquidabã e Morada Nova, sudoeste do estado do Amazonas; 1kg de cada amostra (6 de Aquidabã e 7 de Morada Nova), foi processado (Iavadas, peneiradas e secas à 50°C) utilizando-se 30g das peneiras 0,42, 0,060 e 0,080 mm para a triagem; os espécimens foram separados por espécie e posteriormente fotografados em Microscópio Eletrônico de Varredura. O material tipo foi separado para catalogação e tombamento na coleção de microfósseis do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Foram identificados 6 gêneros e 16 espécies, das quais 11 já registradas em outras localidades mais ao norte da área estudada. Dentre as espécies de Cyprideis foram identificadas: Cyprideis pebasae, C. graciosa, C. longispina, C. lacrimata, C. machadoi e C. olivencai; outras 3 espécies de Cyprideis foram identificadas embora mantidas em nomenclatura aberta. A espécie Cyprideis pebasae apresentou grande variedade morfológica onde foram identificadas 3 variedades da mesma.
