This dissertation investigates ceramic materials from an archaeological site in an urban context, located in the central area of the city of Parintins, state of Amazonas, identified as “Orla de Parintins” site. The collections from this site gained prominence for their contexts of fortuitous finds or landslides. Based on the ceramic analyses, the research sought to investigate the presence of materials related to the Pocó-Açutuba Tradition in this area and thus highlight subsidies to demonstrate the antiquity of habitation in this area as the sociocultural diversity through archaeological material culture. The dissertation highlights the enormous potential of the archaeology in this region, and also makes a critical review of the historiography of the municipality by emphasizing an ancient and diverse indigenous presence, whose marks and traces are perceived in the daily lives of the residents. |
