A new species of Orchidaceae, Eltroplectris guimaraesii A.E.S.Rocha & Afonso, the first species of the genus recorded in the Brazilian Amazon, collected in a floodplain area in the municipality of Jacareacanga, Pará State, Brazil, is described and illustrated and its morphology is compared with related species.
