Resumo:
In this paper the authors revalidam the form Micrurus ornatissimus (Jan , 1858) as a distinct species of Micrurus langsdorffi ( Wagler , 1824) . It is based on the analysis mainly on a copy from the nearby city of Carauari , Juruá , identified as ornatissimus and type of Mi.crurus albicinctus Amaral, 1925 collected north of the former State of Mato Grosso and preserved in the National Museum Rio de Janeiro. Both species , sympatric certainly occur in the western Amazon region ( Brazil , Peru , Ecuador, Colombia and perhaps Bolivia ) . After comparative studies are accepted as synonyms of M. ornatissimus (Jan ), M. and M. Amaral albicinctus waehnerorum Meise , 1938 .
