However, for this research on toponyms in Libras, we chose only four municipalities because they are the most known in the region, as well as the most used by deaf communities: Canaã dos Carajás, Eldorado dos Carajás, Marabá and Parauapebas. For this analysis, we used the toponyms presented in the work called “Cidades do Pará in Libras” prepared by Santiago-Vieira et al in the year of (2018). Thus, the following question arises: What are the motivations for the creation of toponyms in Libras in four municipalities in the Carajás region? Thus, we aim to analyze the motivations for the creation of toponyms in Libras in four municipalities in the Carajás region. As methodological procedures, following the taxonomic model of Dick (1990) and Souza-júnior (2012), we first analyze and present the motivations of the toponyms in Portuguese language and then analyze the motivations and toponymic types in Brazilian Sign Language, also performing phonological description of the signs from the five parameters. In this sense, it was possible to identify the toponyms of the historiotoponym, hydrotoponym and lithotoponym types, in addition to realizing that of the four analyzed toponyms, three use the graphotoponym taxonomy, being identified more than one motivation for the creation of some signs. We also note that the creation of toponyms in Libras in the four analyzed municipalities is not related to the motivations of the toponyms in Portuguese. O presente estudo surgiu de inquietações a respeito da motivação dos sinais de quatro municípios do estado do Pará, especificamente da região dos Carajás, localizado no sudeste deste estado, composto por doze municípios. Contudo, para esta pesquisa dos topônimos em Libras, escolhemos apenas quatro municípios por serem os mais conhecidos na região, bem como os mais utilizados pelas comunidades surdas: Canaã dos Carajás, Eldorado dos Carajás, Marabá e Parauapebas. Para tal análise utilizamos os topônimos apresentados na obra denominada de “Cidades do Pará em Libras” elaborada por Santiago-Vieira et al (2018). Dessa forma, surge a seguinte questão: Quais as motivações para a criação dos topônimos em Libras de quatro municípios da região dos Carajás? Assim, objetivamos analisar as motivações da criação dos topônimos em Libras de quatro municípios da região dos Carajás. Como procedimentos metodológicos, seguindo o modelo taxonômico de Dick (1990) e Souza-júnior (2012), primeiramente analisamos e apresentamos as motivações dos topônimos em Língua portuguesa para posteriormente analisarmos as motivações e os tipos toponímicos em Língua Brasileira de Sinais, realizando também descrição fonológica dos sinais a partir dos cinco parâmetros. Nesse sentido, foi possível identificarmos os topônimos dos tipos historiotopônimo, hidrotopônimo e litotopônimo além de percebermos que dos quatro topônimos analisados três utilizam a taxonomia grafotopônima, sendo identificado mais de uma motivação para a criação de alguns sinais. Notamos ainda que a criação dos topônimos em Libras dos quatro municípios analisados, não possuem relação com as motivações dos topônimos em Língua Portuguesa.
