This paper presents the results of a research developed in the Professional Master Program in Rural Development and Management of Agri-Food Enterprises of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará, Paragominas class. It aimed to identify and analyze the possible contributions of Mathematical Modeling to the teaching of Spatial Geometry, as well as to improve the quality of teaching on this topic. After presenting the state of the art, the relationship between Mathematical Modeling and Spatial Geometry Teaching is discussed. The research is qualitative, with students from two classes of students of the 3rd year of high school of a rural school unit in the city of Marabá, interior of Pará. Lessons were planned and taught using the methodology of mathematical modeling, In the last semester of 2018, the main activity was named “The Geometric Shapes of Our Campus”, addressing Spatial Geometry contents, at which time the subjects chose within the campus physical structure which geometric shapes they would like to investigate. The research results point to several contributions of Mathematical Modeling, both in the aspects related to the learning of the spatial geometry contents, as well as the formation of the criticality and autonomy of the students. As a final product a blog was created with indications of activities for teachers of this level of education. |
